Design Day

A busy, fun-filled day . . .

Design Day is a 12- to 14-hour day that energizes everyone and stirs excitement for your project. One of our designers will visit your community for creative planning and drawing sessions; and face-to-face meetings with parents, teachers, school administrators and other interested community members.

We’ll visit your site or sites first thing in the morning. Then we’ll interview groups of children, listen to their ideas, begin drawing by mid-morning and continue into the afternoon. By late in the day, we’ll have a preliminary design that incorporates features suggested by the children as well as other community members.

We’ll develop a design tailored to fit your needs and site. We will also meet with members of your core committee to discuss fundraising, public relations, recruiting volunteers, tools and materials, food, and childcare. And we’ll talk about long-range planning for construction week.

At the end of your Design Day, the designer will unveil a schematic plan of your structure at a community-wide celebration. This gathering helps unite members of your community, and they’ll leave with a clear vision of the project, ready to make it a success.
