Friends of the Park

We’ll help you build a rugged, well-crafted structure using the best materials and methods available. But it will need to be maintained. If you care for it properly, it could still be in use 20 to 25 years from now. Leathers & Associates encourages communities to form a group called “Friends of the Park” (FOTP), which is a volunteer group that helps monitor the playground and organize maintenance projects.

Each community organizes itself differently, but it’s important to form some kind of group. Parents, teachers, children, businesses, individual community volunteers, community service organizations, senior citizen groups, families, and youth groups can all contribute to keeping the playground safe, enjoyable, and looking good. An ideal group is often a combination of owner representatives and members of the original playground committee. The FOTP then works hand-in-hand with the owner to oversee the long-term care of the structure.
