Toronto, Ontario High Park (Large City Park)

The Story:

Completing a project in phases is just one of many community-built options. Toronto’s playground was planned as a two-phase project right from the start.

Phase I (built in 1998) included play areas for older children and preschoolers. The build week was very exciting, with strong community support that continued throughout both phases.

Phase II added an “enclosed structure,” and the build week was scheduled for the one-year anniversary of the first build. This structure is 2-1/2 stories high, fully enclosed, and designed for safe play. A huge spiral tube slide exits at the highest level.
