Structural Plastic

Communities now have the option of using all plastic for their volunteer-built projects. The structural plastic material is a durable, low-maintenance option.

The product, called FiberForce, is reinforced, recycled plastic lumber made of high-density polyethylene plastic combined with fiberglass. Compared with standard plastic lumber, it has increased structural ability and is a great choice for projects that require more structural integrity. It has the same workability as wood (it can be cut, drilled, fastened, etc. with conventional tools) but does not require painting or sealing.

The plastic lumber is available in the most common dimensional lumber sizes and ten UV-protected colors. FiberForce does not splinter, warp, or corrode and is mildew-resistant. It won’t check, split, rot or stain. It does not absorb moisture and is resistant to heat, cold, and salt. It also resists oils, chemicals, saltwater and termites.
